Solution to the quadrat problem

The reason why this problem is so difficult to solve for many persons is due to our intuitive pattern thinking. This steers us towards looking at solutions where the sides of the new quadrate are parallel to the sides of the original quadrant. This will not work.

Instead we will need to break the pattern by flipping the quadrant on its tip and instead base the new quadrant on the longest distance between two dots in the original figure as seen below.
