All good innovative projects are based on human needs. At the beginning of a creative project, it may therefore be helpful to interview as many people as possible to try and make them express not only their obvious needs but also their latent, indirect and unconscious needs. Already Henry Ford realized in the early days of the automotive industry that if he asked people what they wanted, they would have answered “A faster horse”.
Alla goda idéprojekt utgår från mänskliga behov. I början av ett projekt kan det därför vara bra att intervjua så många människor som möjligt för att försöka få dem att uttrycka inte bara sina uppenbara behov, utan även sina latenta, indirekta och omedvetna behov. Redan Henry Ford insåg i bilismens barndom att om han frågat människor vad de ville ha så hade de svarat ”En snabbare häst”.
The young generation today is facing challenges unlike any generation before them – global warming, climate change, overpopulation, globalisation, migrant flows… But the biggest challenge will likely be the rapid technological advancements with big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of things, deep learning, advanced robotics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, virtual reality, and much more i.e. what is sometimes called the Smart Machine Age (SMA).
Dagens unga generationen står inför utmaningar olika dem som någon annan generation före dem stått inför – global uppvärmning, klimatförändringar, överbefolkning, globalisering, flyktingströmmar… Men den största utmaningen kommer sannolikt att vara de snabba tekniska framstegen med big data, artificiell intelligens, sakernas internet, deep learning, avancerad robotik, nanoteknologi, bioteknologi, virtuell verklighet och mycket mer, dvs det som ibland kallas för den smarta maskinåldern (the smart machine age – SMA).
Creativity is not just painting or creating music. Creativity is to come up with new ideas or expressions regardless of what aspect of life they concern. Creativity is about the creative process – how to approach a problem and about the result – the idea, the invention, the artwork, the feeling, the laughter.

Inventions need not emanate from a problem, but may as well come from a combination of conscious awareness (mindfulness) and curiosity about how things are connected. One of the more revolutionary everyday innovations was born this way.
Uppfinningar behöver inte uppstå ur ett problem, utan kan lika gärna uppstå ur en kombination av medveten närvaro av sin omgivning (mindfulness) och en nyfikenhet hur saker hänger samman. En av de mer revolutionerande vardagsuppfinningarna tillkom på det här sättet.
